Car Haulers Reject New CB Lingo
Car Haulers Reject New CB Lingo

Car-hauling owner-operator Bill "Left-Lane" Johnson says he's not buying the proposed change to the official CB lingo for car haulers.  "Those buttheads over there want to start calling us 'two-story flatbeds' which is ridiculous.  We like 'portable parking lot' and there ain't no good reason to change it."
Car haulers across the nation are rejecting the proposed change.

Ontario, Cal. — Tempers flared briefly during the 37th annual meeting of the National Committee on Trucking Lingo (NCTL) after Tony Castellano, representing a group of owner-operators pulling refrigerated trailers, proposed using "Two-Story Flatbed" in place of "Portable Parking Lot," the current official term for rigs hauling cars.

Opinions were generally mixed among most car-haulers in attendance, but some were clearly opposed to the change.

"Two story flatbed?" one driver yelled from a seat in the balcony. "What 'er you, nuts?  Well I don't like it and I sure as (expletive) ain't gonna use it on my CB radio!"

Other car-haulers were somewhat less-vocal on the matter but felt sure the proposal was nothing more than an act of retaliation.

"You see, three or four years ago somebody proposed changing the refrigerated carriers from Reefer to Garbage-Hauler, on account of them hauling a lot of produce and stuff," one unidentified car-hauler said.  "Well, after the committee OK'd the change them Reefer guys weren't too happy about it.  Somehow they got this crazy idea that the Car-haulers were the ones who suggested the change, even though it weren't, and ever since they kinda been after us.  Personally, I think it was the Tanker-Yankers who slipped that one in on 'em."

Later, NCTL Chairman, Bubba Bernstein, Jr., shared his opinion on the proposal.

"I don't see this one making the list anytime soon," Bernstein told reporters during a smoke break.  "I mean, look, just because we finally approved Skateboard in place of Flatbed at last year's meeting doesn't mean we're gonna jump up 'willy-nilly' and start changing everything .  Flatbed was kind of boring, so we approved the change.  But Portable Parking Lot, that's a whole different thing.  It ain't boring, it's been with us for years, and everybody understands that it means 'car hauler.'  Heck, it's one of the best ones we've ever come up with."

"If you ask me," Bernstein added, "this new proposal is the same kind of radical thinking that permanently ruined one of the old staples.  Remember Good-Buddy?  It use to mean friend, but look at it now -- it means one of them homosexuals."

A final decision is expected next month.
